Significance of Sept 5 and Teacher’s Day, read

India is celebrating Teacher’s Day on Monday today, Cultural events marks the celebrations of Teacher’s Day. Do you know why we celebrate this day as Teacher’s Day?

Teacher’s Day – Significance:

(1) Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was a simple man and hated extravaganza on his birthday. He suggested the day be celebrated as Teacher’s Day instead as he himself had immense respect for teachers.

(2) The birth anniversary of first Vice-President of India, and second President of India, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, is regarded as Teacher’s Day on September 5.

(3) Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, is remembered for his contribution in field of education.

(4) He has been a champion in promoting education among the youths and asked the young generation to use education to shape their future.

(5) Being a scholar himself, Dr Radhakrishnan, had authored numerous on varied subjects.
