Earthquake shakes Delhi NCR and parts of northern India; epicentre in Hindi Khush belt

An earthquake hits Delhi NCR a short while ago.

The tremors stayed from 44 to 46 seconds. The epicentre of the quake is said to be in the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan. The earthquake was measured around 6.8 on Richter scale.

The tremors were also felt in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Chandigarh and other parts of northern India. There are some news of destruction from Jammu and Kashmir but nothing specific. Helpline has been opened in the state.

However, being a big quake, it is possible to have aftershocks. However, no news of destruction have reported so far. The exact picture will be clear in the morning.
