School girl stops going to school over stalking, molestation; mother threatens suicide

A ninth standard school girl is compelled to drop out from school because of a goon who stalks her, molests her. Her widow mother who was heckled and threatened by the police instead of taking action against the has threatened to commit suicide along with her four daughters.

This also raises a big question on the tall convictions of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’, made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Still today girls are compelled to leave education and stop going to school because of goons eve-teasing, molesting, stalking even rapes and gang-raped.

The recent incident has surfaced in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh where this school girl was compelled to stop going to school over regular harassment by her neighbour. Whenever she would go out of her home to buy vegetables, groceries or due to some other work, Ankit (the accused) who lives in her neighbourhood stalks her and molest her. When the mother of the girl went to police station to file complaint she was heckled and turned out by the cops.

Will Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his government take action against these errant police personel who are supposed to take action against the accused but threaten the victim and her family instead. Shame on Uttar Pradesh police that makes big convictions but the real picture is scary. This also raises a big question if Yogi Adityanath government will react or remain silent. Will the buldozer of Yogi Adityanath raise the house of this man who has become a nightmare for this girl to the extent of stop going to school. Finally, where is Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who created a storm during the Assembly elections in the state with her campaign, ‘Beti Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’?

Really have no words to express, all I have to say is “जिन्हें नाज़ है हिंद पर वह कहां हैं!”, the famous lines from Guru Dutt sahib’s iconic film, ‘Pyaasa’ (1957), seems to be so appropriate for such situations. This shameful incident also raises a big question on the people and society around- How long would people stay quiet and silent? Would they only react if such incident would happen to them? Fact, if people raise their voice togather then such incidents would not take place and girls, women would be safe and secured.

New Delhi demands explanation from UK for allowing Khalistan goons to insult Indian flag

India unhappy with the reaction of the United Kingdom (UK), over the unruly anti-Indian ‘Khalistan’ protesters creating ruckus at the Indian High Commission and trying pull down the national flag. The UK administation stayed a mute spectator to the entire incident and did nothing to stop these goons or arrest them for insulting the dignity of the Indian flag and creating ruckus at the Indian High Commission in Westminster. These goons were protesting agaist the crackdown on Amritpal Singh, the self-proclaimed President of the pro-Khalistan outfit Waris Punjab De.

On Sunday late evening, the External Affairs Ministry (MEA) summoned British Deputy High Commissioner Christina Scott and demanded an explanation over the videos showing Indian flag being pulled down. However, New Delhi had made it very clear that the attitude of the UK in handling Khalistan separatists will not be accepted.

India has termed the entire incident as an “indifference” to Indian diplomats. The incident has raised huge controversy in the UK as Indian have condemned the attitude.

The British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis, condemned the actions and tweeted, “I condemn the disgraceful acts today against the people and premises of the @HCI_London — totally unacceptable”.

However, if delayed then this may lead to another Bhindranwale in the making. Punjab had witnessed huge setback in terms of development during the 80’s when insurgency in the state was at it’s peak and terrorism had ruined Punjab.

This is indeed a very serious issue and UK cannot stay mute spectator as such attitude will only make the bilateral ties between both the countries sour.

Self-proclaimed WPD Chief Amritpal Singh on the run; RAF stages flag march

Amritpal Singh On The Run / Massive Crackdown /
Security Beefed Up / RAF Stages Flag march / High Alert In Punjab

Massive hunt is on to nab Amritpal Singh, the Khalistan sympathizer and radical Sikh preacher who had been trying to spread the message of terrorist Bhindranwale among the youths of Punjab and infuse Sikh fundamentalism. On Saturday, the Punjab state government had launched a major crackdown against Singh. Police have arrested 78 members of Waris Punjab De (WPD), the radical outfit launched by Amritpa Singh. Several criminal cases have been slapped against Singh. The police suspects Amritpal Singh has been maintaining close links with Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and terrorist groups based in foreign countries.

Amritpal Singh, managed to escape police’s dragnet on a motorcycle when the special team of the state police, comprising personnel from seven districts, had followed the Khalistani leader’s convoy on its way to the Shahkot tehsil in Jalandhar. Following this incident, security has been beefed up across the state. Singh has been declared a fugitive. Internet connection and SMS services have been suspended after his aides shared some videos on social media claiming that policemen were chasing them, and urged his supporters to gather at Shahkot. The police said it has launched a “massive state-wide cordon and search operations (CASO)” in the state against elements of the ‘Waris Punjab De’.

The Punjab police have already arrested six to seven gunmen of Amritpal Singh. It has also nabbed 78 members of the radical outfit. Apart from this, the police conducted massive raids across the state and have seized one .315 bore rifle, seven 12 bore rifles, one revolver, and 373 live cartridges of different caliber. Daljeet Singh Kalsi, a close aide of Amritpal Singh who handles his finance, has also been arrested from Gurgaon in Haryana. Amritpal Singh has been booked under Arm’s Act.

It’s not clear what charges have been framed against WPD chief Amritpal Singh or in which case he is wanted. However, its is not ruled out that the massive crackdown may be in connection with incident that took place in the Ajnala Police Station on the outskirts of the Amritsar city. Amritpal alongwith his supporters had flaunted nacked swords and guns, broke through barricades. Singh and his gang had clashed with the police. six policemen including a Superintendent of Police rank officer had suffered injuries. The incident had attracted severe criticism for the Mann led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the state being accused of kowtowing to extremists.

Four of Amritpal Singh’s aides have been flown from Punjab to Dibrugarh in Assam, and kept in the Central Jail. The Punjab police is expected to hold a Press conference and divulge details.

However, the aides of Amritpal Singh, are reluctant to accept that their leader had been on the run and maintain that he is in the custody of the police and the police has been spreading a “deliberate” wrong message to mislead the Sikhs. One of the aide said, their leader has nothing to hide or run from as he had been saying and doing everything in the interest of the Sikh religion.

Rise of Amritpal Singh at a glance:

Amritpal Singh is the self-styled chief of the separatist Khalistani pressure group – ‘Waris Punjab De’

The radical leader hails from Jallupur village in Punjab’s Amritsar.

Till February 2022, he lived a normal life who was greatly influenced by the Western lifestyle and did not even wear a turban.

Transformation came in his life after returning from Dubai when he was appointed the head of WPD, founded by actor and activist Deep Sidhu after he was denied a stage by the protesting farmers’ unions. Sidhu had died in a road accident in February last year.

Things changed for Amritpal Singh, who decided to take the void left by Sidhu’s death and declared himself the new chief of Waris De Punjab. His family initially objected to Amritpal Singh’s takeover of the organisation.

Since then Amritpal Singh has directly challenging the administration flouting all the protocols. The man who calls himself a Khalistani sympathizer and a staunch supporter of terrorist Bhindranwale had been openly promoting his separatist agenda.

However, the prima facie reports reveal that Amritpal Singh has already fled outside India, in all probability, Amritpal Singh and three others including his uncle have fled to Nepalmand from there may be to some other country.

Remembering Shashi Kapoor on his 85th birth anniversary; not just a wonderful actor but human also

Shashi Kapoor, one of the most handsome faces of Indian cinema who has left an indelible mark with his acting and charm turns 85 on Saturday (today). Not just the Bollywood, but Shashi Kapoor earned immense love and adulation of the West with his numerous English films. Though the actor had predominantly attracted popularity with his cult Bollywood commercial films but he had also acted in a few serious and parallel films (to be discussed later in the story).

Kapoors had a strong affiliation with Kolkata and West Bengal ever since the days his father, Prithwiraj Kapoor, the doyen of Kapoor Khandan (as fondly called while referring to this iconic family also called the first cine family), began his career with the iconic New Theatres. In the due course of time, Shashi Kapoor, developed a fondness for Bengali cinema. Shashi Kappor shared a wonderful relationship with Great Master Satyajit Ray who had also penned a couple of scripts of Ivory films.

Shashi-Kapoor

Kapoors since decades had been entertaining the masses – The journey began with Prithwiraj Kapoor fondly called ‘Papa Kapoor’ who passed on the legacy onto his sons Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor. They had passed on the legacy of ‘Kapoor Khandan’ subsequently to the next generation of Kapoors.

23TH_SHASHI

I recall first watching Shashi Kapoor on TV as we in our childhood was not much exposed to films like today’s generation but we had a great companion (if I may call so) and that was the television which was the ultimate platform for entertainment and many of us I am sure will agree that our schooling to cinema (whatever we have learnt or developed within) had began with this iconic “idiot box’ in early 80’s. Watching this actor on Chitrahaar, Sunday cinema and so on…I recall hearing him during the Film Festival when he had shared so many personal memories about his family, brothers and the cine industry. It was during one such interview Shashi Kapoor had said for him, the ultimate romantic hero was elder brother Shammi Kapoor with his westernized looks and acting. He had also said that “now watching my acting on screen, I feel ashamed as they look so childish” a confession from a real actor who was whimsical of his characters and perhaps this why Shashi Kapoor did not stay obsessed with the cult Commercial Cinema but acted in many parallel cinema and few experimental cinema (a wave that took cinema by its stride during early 70’s and late 80’s).

Shashi-Kapoor-3

Shashi Kapoor and English films especially in British and American films, under the iconic Merchant Ivory productions run by Ismail Merchant and James Ivory that had been his second family as their association had grown stronger. Shashi Kapoor acted in numerous films under the banner like The Householder (1963), Shakespeare Wallah (1965) (opposite his sister-in-law Felicity Kendal), Bombay Talkie (1970) and Heat and Dust (1982) in which he co-starred with his wife Jennifer Kendal, The Deceivers (1988) and Side Streets (1998). Apart from Ivory productions, he had acted in other British and American films like ‘Matter Of Innocence’ (1967)), ‘Siddhartha’ (1972), ‘Sammy and Rosie Get Laid’ (1987), and Muhafiz (1994). James Ivory directed Kapoor in the first Merchant Ivory production The Householder, then in Shakespeare-Wallah, Bombay Talkie and Heat and Dust while Ismail Merchant directed him in In Custody (1993).

It was during late 50’s Shashi Kapoor met English actress Jennifer Kendal in then Calcutta now Kolkata. in 1956 while both were working for their respective theatre groups. Shashi was both assistant stage manager as well as an actor for his father’s theatre group, Prithvi Theatre. Geoffrey Kendal’s Shakespearean group was also present at the same time in Calcutta and Jennifer was Geoffrey’s daughter. They fell in love and after facing initial opposition from the Kendals got married to Jenifer in July 1958. Both of them had acted in a number of films together. In 1984, Jenifer Kendal died due to cancer. Shashi Kapoor loved Jenifer immensely and did not re-marry.

Both of them were blessed with three children – Kunal Kapoor (who had acted in Vijeta), Karan Kapoor (he too had acted in a few films like Loha and Saltanat but he is most remember for his modelling with Bombay Dying in 80’s) and daughter Sanjna (she too has acted in a few films like Hero Hiralal. She took charge of the Prithvi Theatre which was established on 5 November 1978 in Mumbai. In the recent years, we have Karishma (Lolo) and Karina (Bebo), daughters of Randhir Kapoor (Raj Kapoor’s son) and Ranbir Kapoor, son of another Kapoor superstar Late Rishi Kapoor rising to the top of popularity in Bollywood. Ranbir unlike his father, who had predominantly acted in Bollywood flicks have already acted in numerous serious and good cinema.

Being a true actor he showed guts and courage to criticize the typical Hindi cinema which had been showing things that had nothing to do with reality rather many impractical and abnormal things. It was this quest for good cinema Shashi Kapoor acted in films like – ‘Muhafiz’ (1994), ‘In Custody’ (1993), ‘Junoon’ (1978), ‘Utsav’ (1984) to name a few. Also he had produced many of these. He also produced 36 Chowringhee Lane (1981) directed by Aparna Sen. His wife Jenifer Kendal had done a wonderful acting in this film which revolves around a lonely Anglo lady residing in Kolkata who teaches conversation English in a reputed convent school in the city and subsequently gets cheated by her two ex-students whom she had trusted immensely. However, Aparna Sen bagged National Award for the film but Jenifer did not receive any award which had made him upset and he had shared his feelings in one of his interview on Doordarshan.

Shashi Kapoor had produced and directed a fantasy film titled Ajooba which was a Indo-Russian project and starred his frequent co-star Amitabh Bachchan and nephew Rishi Kapoor in the lead. The film however could not make money on the box-office.

It was this fondness for Shashi Kapoor, Great Master Satyajit Ray had taken him in Satyajit Ray Presents (directed by Sandip Ray for Doordarshan in 1985), “Kissa Kathmandu Ka” which was based on his Feluda adventure story – “Joto Kelenkari Kathmandu Te” and Shashi Kapoor played Feluda. As per the details of Feluda, Ray had always sketched him as a fitness freak and always slim and agile but Shashi Kapoor had put on weight and looked bulky. Still, Ray had casted him as Feluda in his production. This explains the relationship Shashi Kapoor shared with the Satyajit Ray.

Shashi-Kapoor-l

He was not keeping well since long and had bid adieu to films in late 90’s with Side Streets being his last film. On 20 July 2012, Shashi Kapoor underwent a cataract surgery at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. Shashi Kapoor was admitted in Kokilaben Hospital on December 3, 2017 reportedly for chest infection. On December 4, 2017, he breathed his last at around 5:30 pm. The famous lines from his film ‘Kala Parthar’ (1979), ‘ek rasta hai zindagi… jo tham gaye to kuch nahin…’ will be the most befitting lines to pay him tributes…

Nonsense Talk News pays its respects to this great actor and a wonderful man…

Delhi BJP launches public awareness programme against AAP’s liquor politics; distributes leaflets at metro stations

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that had been vocal against the liquor politics of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) since begining and had carried out protests, agitations and held regular Press conferences since last year has taked a step forward to expose the liquor mafias. On Friday (today), Delhi BJP launched a public awareness campaign by distributing leaflets at metro stations across Delhi to apprise Delhi-ites against the liquor scam. “It is the right of Delhiites to know the black role of Kejriwal in the liquor scam”, said Virendra Sachdeva, President Delhi BJP.

Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Delhi Assembly, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, who had been vocal and regularly held Press conferences on the issue said, “All the BJP MLAs will demand resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal before the Assembly sessions starts. Last year, Bidhuri had raised the issue of flouting Master Plan and demanded a reply from the Kejriwal government.

Liquor scam needs no introduction for Delhi-ites as people across Delhi NCR had witnessed the lawlessness that created havoc for city dwellers especially women who had face molestation, eve-teasing by anti-socials. Worst, a gang rape had taken place in East Delhi’s Vivek Vihar in February last year where the prime accused had been liquor mafias. Numerous shops, thekas opened across the city like mushroom. The Delhi government had allegedly tampered and flouted the Master Plan as in Delhi opening liquor shops are prohibited within 100 metres of religious, educational and residential establishments. Liquor shops were opened next to religious places, opposite educational institutions and below apartments or housings. Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor, Arvind Kejriwal had turned a deaf ear to the complaints of Delhi-ites. If this was not enough, the number of dry days were reduced to three from 22. Buy one, get one free schemes were introduced to appease drinkers and ruin households.

Virendra Sachdeva said that it is the right of the people of Delhi to know about the black role of the Kejriwal government in the liquor scam, and therefore the BJP has launched this public relations campaign so that the people of Delhi know the intention behind the liquor scam of Kejriwal and Sisodia. “People must know the motive of Kejriwal and Sisodia behind giving one free bottle, opening more and more liquor vends and then reducing the number of dry days”, added Sachdeva.

Arvind Kejriwal is directly involved in the scam worth thousands of crores and he cannot run away from his responsibility. He said that this movement of Delhi BJP will continue till Kejriwal resigns from his post.

Sachdeva said that the Kejriwal government has caused a loss of crores of rupees to the revenue of Delhi by scam in the new liquor policy, it is necessary to discuss it with the people because the tax payers of Delhi have the right to know as after all its their tax money people should know what did the Kejriwal government do with the money? He said that the people of Delhi have also understood that Kejriwal has done the work of intoxicating the youth of Delhi.

Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said, Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal have an important role not only in the liquor scam but also in the espionage case and the BJP has demanded that action should be taken against both the leaders by registering a sedition case.

BJP MP Dr Harsh Vardhan along with BJP Chandni Chowk District President Sardar Kuldeep Singh and other workers distributed leaflets outside Kashmir Gate Metro Station and made people aware about the liquor scam of Kejriwal government. State General Secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal distributed leaflets with Shahdara District General Secretary Yashpal Cantura and BJP workers outside Laxminagar Metro Station and made people aware of the liquor scam of the Kejriwal government. Former State President Adesh Gupta along with Keshavpuram District BJP President Rajkumar Bhatia distributed leaflets outside Adarsh Nagar Metro Station and made people aware of the liquor scam of the Kejriwal government.

Mamata Banerjee’s niece loses job in wake of alleged “illegal” appointment of non-teaching staff

Trinamool Supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s niece Brishti Mukherjee loses her Group C staff member job at Bolpur Upper Primary School after her name featured on 608th position in the list of names for cancellation of jobs as ordered by the Calcutta HC.

Brishti Mukherjee who hails from Birbhum’s Kusumba village, the CM’s maternal home, was allegedly appointed “illegally” as a non-teaching staff member by the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC).

When asked her father, Nihar Mukherjee, refuted all the allegations and informed that her daughter Brishti, had joined the school but only for a day or two and left the job. He also said that her daughter did not draw any salary. Well, there are numerous missing links in the story. One, if Brishti left the job in 2012 or 13 then how come her name surface in the list now? Two, if Brishti and her father is speaking truth then how come there is no documented proof of her resignation? Three, why Brishti herself is not much vocal about the allegations hurled at her? draw salary too.

It’s too early to comment who is wrong or who is pretending to be naive. If the allegations come out to be true then both Supremo and nephew will have to answer many bitter questions no matter if they are “choto ghotona” (petty incident) for them.

Will UP Govt take timely decision over release of eligible lifers

Suchhanda Roy takes a sneak peek at the order by the Supreme Court ordering the Yogi Adityanath government to release the convicts who have already served over 14-years in prison. Read more…

Apart from any kind of discrimination, on February 6, 2023, the Supreme Court ordered Uttar Pradesh government to take decisions over the release of lifers lodged in various jails in state within three-months. Inmates, who are lodged in jails for over 14-years, will have to be granted remission of remaining sentences, as they have already served incarceration. This has come in wake of the release of aged and ailing lifters under the policy adopted on August 1, 2018.

As per the reports given by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Prisons, Uttar Pradesh, out of 6,262 life convicts lodged across various jails in the state, 2,228 have served more than 14 years in prison and therefore eligible for remission. The UP government’s 2018 policy provided a scope that a lifer would be eligible for remission of remaining part of his or her life term once he or she serves 14 years of actual imprisonment. There are more than thousand of lifer inmates dwindling in prison, have no resources or awareness to file a remission application.

If we generalize, the maximum number of  life convicts of state are not aware about the legal part of remission procedure as well as the policy of the state govt regarding remission of lifer. The Apex Court also ruled states should  bound to consider remission of sentences of eligible lifers, who didn’t submit remission application. It is mentioned that, scores of petitions for remission being filed in Allahabad high Court and Supreme court. Uttar Pradesh’s Additional Advocate General Garima Prashad told in the Supreme Court that the cases regarding the premature release of some of the convicts awarded life were already under consideration and may require three months to take final decision. However, it will not be possible to grant their requests if there are any legal hitch within the said time frame. It is therefore suggested that the state government as well as the prison authorities should take positive step to arrange awareness programme of legal process for the inmates, that would enable them to gather knowledge regarding the legal procedures required to apply for remission.

Supreme courts bench headed by Chief Justice of India and justice P S Narshimha and Justice  J B Padriwala strictly said, the government should strictly abide by its policies, as because provisions of law and policy are very much equal for everyone, are to be applied to all eligible equally and transparently, so easily could avoid the discrimination as well as deferential treatments. UP government’s standing counsel Ardhendu Mauli Prasad cited in the court that, lifer who are eligible for remission, their cases are pending before the appropriate committee for consideration in various stages, which would send recommendation to the state, after that  to the Governor for final decisions.

Hundreds of Prisoners filed petition questioning  UP government’s July 28. 2021 policy, which clearly stated premature release applicable to only those prisoners who are in their 60 years of age. They have certain quarries about the change in premature release policy of the state, as they  were entitled  as eligible for remission under the August 1, 2018 state policy.

However, quoting the 2018 policy SC bench clearly stated, no convicts will have to apply for the premature release, said state government shall process the release permission, only after seeking recommendation of the  concerned prison officials. Beside this court directed the District Legal service Authority  to take necessary steps for ensuring that no eligible prisoners are left out.

SC also said, it would institutionalize the frame work for grant of remission across India as well as take up scrutiny of the situation of lifers in all stages and grant remission procedures in Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan very soon.

Girl gangraped by strangers in Uttar Pradesh, fighting for Life in hospital

It seems people have gone on an overdose of Viagra. Rapes and gangrapes are becoming a cult trend and rarely the victim is left to survive. Still, there are no sign of stringent most punishment that is required.

The fresh case has come from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. A girl originally from Bihar having her family in Delhi was going to Betia in Bihar from Delhi. Due to some reasons she had got down at Bhatparni Station in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh in the night. Two strangers – Deepak and Rohita confronted her and assured safe stay. They took her and gang-raped. She was left in a semi conscious state in a pool of blood when the police recovered her.

The police immediately came into action and lodged an FIR and nabbed both the accused. The girl is critical and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

There are a few missing links which needs to be connected. One, inspite of repeated requests and warnings by the police not to trust strangers especially on railway stations, the victim decided to move with totally strangers according to prima facie reports. Two, she was to board the train for Bihar, then why did she leave the station at the night. Why not wait at the platform for the next train. However, inspite of all the ‘missing-links’, I totally condemn the incident as no civilised society will support or can support raping a girl no matter she gets down at a allien place or railway station or trusts strangers.

It’s high time stringent most punishment should be given to these people. There is no fear factor and it is the need of the hour.

Finally, I assume that these rapists are residents of Uttar Pradesh, will the state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath bull-dose their houses.
