Viral video showing Mukul Roy at Delhi airport churn speculations

“I regularly visit Delhi. I can come to Delhi after all I am MP… MLA of this place…,” were the words of Trinamool veteran Mukul Roy who was spotted at the Palam airport in Delhi. This statement shows not everything is normal with this man who had lived an active political life. Who eats and drinks politics. This viral video of Roy has created ripples across political corridors in West Bengal and Delhi.

Mukulda as he is called had boarded Indigo flight 6E898 for Delhi at around 7pm alongwith his two confidential aides in Kolkata. His son, who re-joined the Trinamool after leaving Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had rushed to the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose airport and requested the Indigo authorities in writing to deboard his father on health grounds, “I requested Indigo to deboard my father citing his mental and health conditions but they could not owing to flight regulations, I do understand their obligations,” said Shubhrangshu. Mukul Roy landed at Delhi airport around 9:45 pm and was seen coming out of the airport at around 10pm. At the airport, when reporter of a Bengali news channel asked him his reason for coming and also if he was unwell, Mukul Roy said he is fine and he keeps visiting Delhi.

Mukul Roy is among the initial leaders who had left the Bengal Congress to form Trinamool under Mamata Banerjee in late 90’s and the party had been registered in his name which Mamata Banerjee later got removed after Roy announced his exit from the Trinamool to join the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). Mukul Roy was superceded by nephew Abhishek Banerjee who was made Genral Secretary. Nothing new though, in Trinamool it is said that the party supports or stands beside it’s leaders or members as long as they are of use to the party Supremo and are shown the doors once they turn unproductive. Scroll down the history and you will find numerous names who were at the helm but are nowhere today.

Mukul Roy had been an active politician who had worked at the ground root level. He remembered the embers across districts by their names. I have myself seen him many times interacting with party workers at the Trinamool Bhawan, Topsia in Kolkata. It was the time Mukulda was the General Secretary and would visit the party office almost daily during the afternoon. I too had to visit for stories. On many occasions I have seen him getting engrossed in discussions and standing for hours with one feel on the footboard of his Boleno car. Never saw anger, impatience fir being held up for hours. This is the quality of a political leader.

His son has alleged BJP nexus behind the entire plan. “BJP is doing this in a pre-planned manner as their real target our leader Abhishek Banerjee, today Abhishek is the youth icon. It’s being done as my father had re-joined under Abhishek Banerjee,” accused Subhrangshu Roy who himself had left the party to join the BJP and re-joined Trinamool under Abhishek Banerjee. “I never found anybody from BJP beside me when my father underwent a surgery or when my mother died,” added Subhrangshu. BJP too has given a befitting reply by saying things would be clear soon why Mukul Roy is in Delhi. “There is no need for the BJp to hijack Mukul Roy and BJP doesn’t take Abhishek Banerjee seriously that it will take refuge in Mukul Roy to malign him,” BJP replied. The spokesperson in the party further said, “Abhishek Banerjee could be Trinamool’s concern not for the BJP.” However, it’s not clear if Mukul Roy will be re-joining the BJP or is he in Delhi for something else.

Trinamool abuses Justice Ganguly for asking Abhishek Banerjee to face probe

Recruitment scam in West Bengal turns ‘hot’ with each passing day. On Thursday, political corridors in the state turned into a virtual battle ground after Justice Abhijit Ganguly suggested nephew turned General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee should be called for a probe.

Immediately, Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh sprang into action and attacked Justice Ganguly in his cult ‘uncouth’ language. Naturally, Trinamool members, ministers and leaders failed to eschew the development and retaliated. Thank God, there is no Parliament session, else members would stand outside Parliament near the Gandhi statue with placards around their neck. However, Ghosh has forgotten that before abusing someone like Justice Ganguly, he should remember his past especially his alleged involvement in Sharadha chitgate and calling Supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as “shob theke boro chor…” (The biggest thief…). His uncouth language may bring Kudos by his party workers but for common people even listening to him is below dignity.

On various television debates since evening, representatives of Trinamool have been fuming to exhibit their ‘loyalty’ to their masters sitting within the four walls of lavish Shantiniketan and Harish Chatterjee Street. Going a little overboard, a spokesperson on a television channel said, “Abhishek Banerjee should be complimented for saying if my name comes in the investigation then I shall hang myself at the Shaheed Minar. No politician has the guts to say this.” The problem with this party is they are too much melodramatic and theatrical.

The big question is and this underlines a missing link. Why can’t Banerjee come forward and face a probe as demanded by Justice Ganguly? He will come clean if he is really innocent. Attacking or abusing Justice Ganguly will cut no ice as it has been proved that Justice Ganguly has emerged as a God to those who were deprived of their rights by the state government.

Praises going overboard! Bengal Governor compares Mamata Banerjee with icons like Radhakrishnan, Milton & Kalam

Let’s keep aside paintings, songs and not to forget poems like ‘epang opang jhopang…potang…dang dang…” the masterpieces by Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee, what should we call a Chief Minister who says, “Will offer stone chips to PM Modi in Bengal” or “Shall slap him”? Or are these very civilised words? The issue has come up as Governor CV Ananda Bose complimenting Banerjee being conferred upon with DLitt by St Xavier’s University.

Few observations – A blunt compliment from the Governor for a political head is dangerous. This means the Governor either has no clue of the ‘jungle raaj’ in the state or least interested in the plight of people. It’s indeed scary as Trinamool is using Bose as a ‘reply’ or sand bag. From past Governors – MK Narayanan, Keshari Nath Tripathi to Dhankar, Banerjee had problems. Is this a political posturing? Trinamool has a least interest for administrative chairs, why still, Bose is so appreciative? Many missing links…

Re-joinder: Governor Bose has compared Trinamool Supremo with names like Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Vajpayee, Winston Churchill… Dr Radhakrishnan and John Milton (the worst comparisons …perhaps). Supremo called Park Street gangrape “choto ghotona” (petty incident) and sent the Investigating Officer in exile posting for bringing facts. She could identify ‘Maoists’ just by seeing – Tumpa and Moushumi Koyal to Shiladittya and even a college student in TV show Taniya Bhardwaj. Gave the slogan ‘bodla noy badal chai’ (not revenge but change), mere slogan. Never complimented Barun Biswas, the man (a real hero) stood against marathon rapes in Sutia. No ‘bhushan or shree’ awards. Height of shamelessness when she introduced compensation for rape victims – more money if victim is young. Never heard a word when oppositions are attacked. Least talk of her schemes – ‘Shree and Sathi’, I have seen in Kolkata, interacted with incumbents and parents. Not going into political inefficiency, she has ruined health, education and governance.

Rejoinder: Honestly, I wanted to stay away from this too in volumes but a journo instigated me on Mamata Banerjee. Infact, I know I am more than a vocal, aggressive and blunt critic of Trinamool and Supremo. I can’t write everything on the public domain why, when and what has turned me into a critic but all I can say and those who know Bengal thick and thin or follow knows whatever I write, say in my LIVES on #nonsensetalknews are nothing but truth. The fact is people who today are against her were once the biggest admirers of her as they ushered-in immense faith in her but she lost it all to satisfy, appease and please vested interests. Eg. She called Park Street gamgrape as “choto ghotona” (petty incident) as the main accused Kader Khan was the boyfriend and fiance of actress turned Trinamool Nusrat Jahan. Numerous instances. All this gradually ditanced her from the people who simply regarded as Goddess. In 2011, when she came to power, people had immense expectations but she failed on the face value to keep their confidence. Ask locals across Bengal, and you will hear it yourself. She not only ruined the state but maligned humanity, may talk big on women safety but actually did nothing to protect the dignity of women… Talk to people in the state, find out yourself.

Snippet news at a glance:

Remembering Irrfan Khan on his birthday

India lost one of its finest and promising actors Irrfan Khan. He was diagnosed with an endocrine tumor (a rare type of cancer). He went to London for treatment and had his surgery done. The condition deteriorated and he was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He died on April 29, 2020.

His death has shocked not only his admirers but even those who took a casual approach towards his acting that is Irrfan, many would not even notice him for his out-of-the-bottle look. His cult look was his advantage as he would bag those roles that many would not even think of doing. The man was an intense actor who tried to live that character for the period. No wonder why his acting career touched the peak. Irfan married his National School of Drama (NSD) sweetheart Sutapa Sikdar and both have two sons – Ayaan and Babil Khan.

Irrfan Khan was born on January 7, 1963, as Sahabzade Irrfan Ali Khan in Jaipur, to a Muslim family. Khan’s mother, the Begum, was from the Tonk Hakim family, and his father, the late Jagirdar, was from the Khajuriya village near the Tonk district and ran a tire business. He has two brothers, Imran Khan and Salman Khan, and one sister Rukhsana Begum.

He began his career with prominent serials on Doordarshan like ‘Chanakya’, ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’, ‘Sparsh’, ‘Sara Jahan Hamara’, ‘Banegi Apni Baat’. He became a popular face with his role in ‘Lal Ghaas Par Neele Ghonde’ where he played the role of iconic leader Lenin. It was translated by Uday Prakash based on a Russian play by Mikhail Shatrov. He had acted a few serials on Star Plus and other channels.

He made his debut with Meera Nair’s controversial film Salaam Bombay (1988), though his role was edited at the least minute. He acted in numerous parallel films like Basu Chatterjee’s Kamla Ki Maut  (1989) where he featured opposite Roopa Ganguly.   In 1990, Irrfan worked with iconic filmmaker Tapan Sinha in his film ‘Ek Doctor Ki Maut’ having Pankaj Kapoor in the central role. He worked in a few more parallel cinemas.

His role in Maqbool in 2004 opened new doors for him and after his stint in Rog (2005) there was no looking back for the actor but he always remained in touch with his first love, the stage. The biggest advantage and perhaps disadvantage was his cult looks. The out of the bottle looks made him special, those who would meet him would never feel like meeting a celebrity but the guy next door. Irrfan himself was aware of this would cherish this characteristic about his personality. His role in Mira Nair’s Namesake (2006) was appreciated by all.

Irrfan had a big struggling life in films but with his dedication and zeal to achieve the peak, he became a world-famous name. Not just Bollywood but Irfan left his mark in Hollywood too.

Social media is abuzz with condolences pouring in from all quarters. Irrfan Khan had a short span of successful cine career but has left an indelible mark in the world of cinema. He will be always remembered for his impeccable acting and the cult expressions that would bring the characters alive he played on screen.

Passengers across United States of America (USA) are reportedly stranded due to a technical snag that has largely impacted Notice to Air Missions (NOTAMs)’ following which all flights from USA have been grounded.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) informed that no flights are able to take off and it’s ‘experiencing an outage’.

Police should be friend not terror, says President Murmu

I had the opportunity to hear Dr Abdul Kalam a few times and I shall never forget the experience of listening to him. Entire journalist fraternity would hear him spell bound. Usually, we journalists take out our pad and pen to take notes as soon press conference starts rolling. While covering Dr Kalam, it was the other way round as he would take to mic and requested all to listen to him, “Don’t take notes, listen to me… If you don’t hear me then you will miss the mood… The press note will reach you before you reach your respective offices…”. What an inspiring speech it used to be, he could transform the brooding atmosphere into a ‘happening’ one…

Another President, it was simply inspiring listening to her. I am talking of President Draupadi Murmu.

Today, I was honestly impressed listening to President Draupadi Murmu who is in Telangana on a five-day state visit. She has a hectic schedule and will attend numerous press conferences, events, inaugurations, and unveiling projects. On Tuesday, she addressed young police officers at an event in Telangana.

“I wish I was born in this era where you have so much freedom to explore and reach your goals. I feel happy to see young girls joining the force and working for the betterment of the society”, were the opening words of the President who not only has seen very hard days as being someone from the scheduled tribe was not easy in a society of the affluents, but had peeved her way to reach her goals. President Murmu touched a few very important issues which should act as an inspiration for these young officers. “I want you all to remove the scare quotient that on average people have on listening the name of police, be people’s friend not terror, said President Murmu.

“I know you all have a bright future and the country is in safe hands. Tomorrow, when you turn senior, you will be DGP, Comissioner etc. Try to inculcate these qualities in you as you will be an inspiration for your juniors. Ensure police dosen’t become terror and people think many a times to approach you but you should be able to interact with people, they should be able to talk to you, were the inspiring of President Murmu who reiterated that crimes against women should stop in the society.

22-year old Rubika chopped into 12 pieces, killer husband nabbed; read more

Barely, three weeks since the Aftab and Shradha incident had surfaced and still is in the process of reaching a judgement. The investigating agencies have completed their probe and submitted the closure report. The DNA of the jaws, other body parts found in the forests in Mehrauli, south Delhi have matched with her father. A fresh case on the lines of Shradha has come into light. This time it’s Sahibganj in Jharkhand. A 22-year old Santhali woman, Rubika Pahadin, was chopped into 12 pieces by her husband.

The incident came to light after the mutilated body of a woman was recovered from an old house in the Santhali Momin Tola area. Her husband Dildar Ansari has been detained by Police, the deceased was his second wife. As per the latest development, the forensic team has reached the incident site and the police officials will brief the media in the evening.

It may not be out of context here to mention the gruesome killing and chopping of Shrada’s dead body by Aftab, the main accused. Country had been demanding stringent punishment nothing less than hanging till death ever since the news came to light. Anger among people is very high and they want stringent most punishment against Aftab who had planned the killing and chopping of Shradha cold blooded.

Such incidents are growing at a galloping rate and needs stringent most punishment. These people should not be left free in the society as they are predators who are worst than beasts. Unless stringent punishment will be administered then such incidents will not stop and innocent girls, women will continue to fall prey to these predators.

Campaigning for MCD polls end, interesting to watch who wins

Stage has been set… All the preparations are complete… If you are still wandering what I am talking about… I am referring to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls scheduled to take place on December 4, 2022. With barely 48 hours left, the campaigning came to a close at 5pm today. Now, it’s the waiting for the election day. Political parties Predominantly three parties in the fray – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Congress.

All the three parties have done their best as far as the campaigning goes. Some candidates have added a personal touch by going around houses, touching feet of elders and requesting them to vote for him or her. The others have taken out processions across the lanes and bylanes of their constituencies. In short, all the parties in this MCD have done extensive campaigning.

It was after decades I saw candidates almost daily hitting the road and interacting with locals at least it happened in Mayur Vihar constituency. While talking to locals, I found their criteria to elect their councillor is clear. Locals would go for that person who stay in the area or is easily accessible.

In this MCD polls, the most significant thing that has turned out to be an attraction is the fielding of women candidates in large number.

Though it’s too early to predict who will win the MCD polls but going by the trends, there is an indication of cut throat fight between BJP and AAP. Not only there will be one of them will put a dent on the other but will help the other party to win under anti-incumbency factor. Congress that used to be at the helm once, will only put dent or cut votes.

Apart from development, the issue of the viral video tape of Satyendra Jain is already working in favour of BJP which has and have touched to expose the AAP in the coming days.

MCD polls will decide the respective councillors and in broad sphere, the mayor. People are decided as some openly say BJP will be able to retain its MCD seat while others opine that AAP will come to MCD. Too early to react though, the results will be out on December 7, 2022.
