“PM Modi is scared of my next speech exposing Adani links”, says Rahul Gandhi

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is scared of my next speech which would have been suicidal for them as I would have exposed the Adani-Modi relationship… I shall expose this nexus anyway…”, were the words of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who held a Press conference short while ago. Entire media was waiting for a Press briefing since Friday (yesterday), when the news of termination of MP ship came into light.

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two years in prison in a 2019 criminal defamation case over his remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s surname by a court in Gujarat’s Surat. Let’s first understand the entire incident. RaGa who is the MP from Wayanad in Karnataka made the remarks while addressing a rally in the state ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The allegation that had created furore among the Saffron supporters was targeting PM Modi over his last name which he shares with fugitive businessmen Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi. BJP MLA and former Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi had filed the case for saying “How come all thieves have the common surname Modi?” However, the court granted RaGa bail and his sentence was suspended for 30 days to let him appeal the decision.

Before talking about the Press briefing and what RaGa said, let’s have a quick recap of the sequence of events since Friday:

  1. Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as Lok Sabha MP in the Parliament.
  2. The Lok Sabha Secretariat in a notification informed that the disqualification was effective from March 23, the day of his conviction.
  3. Lok Sabha Secretariat further informed the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat falls vacant.
  4. Rahul Gandhi would have to vacate the official bungalow within a stipulated time period.

On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi held a Press meet and faced the media that was bustling with question. RaGa replied all the questions with calm and ease. Some of the excerpts from the Press meet:

  1. RaGa alleged Prime Minister Narendra Modi of allegedly backing Adani. “For this government, country is Adani and Adani is country,” said Rahul said this entire episode was to silence the voice of Congress. RaGa demanded a reply from Pm Modi, “Who’s Rs 20,000 crore went to Adani’s shell companies?”
  2. Replying to Wayand, Rahul said, “I have decided to write a letter to the people of my constituency and explain why I am not able to serve them as a MP after this but will also tell them that my crusade will be on against exposing the corrupt in the system”.
  3. RaGa said he is not bothered over the disqualification as to reach out to people with truth he doesn’t require to a MP, he shall reach out to people in his own way.
  4. When asked on Other Backward Class (OBC) issue during his Bharat Jodo Yatra, he claimed that allegations were totally false and he never insulted OBC.
  5. “My job is to defend the democratic nature of the country which means defending the institutions of the country, defending the voice of the poor people of the country and telling people the truth about people like Adani who are exploiting the relationship they have with the PM”, said Rahul.
  6. RaGa also accused the media of not focusing the issues of opposition as they used to do in the past.

Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on some of the reporters who asked question with a BJP angle. “Why don’t you put the party badge on your shirt. I shall reply to you but please don’t pretend to be a Pressman. Did the BJP tell you to do so”. Reacting to the questions of a popular television journalist, RaGa said, “Allow me to speak unless you decide to reply on my behalf, I know you do this too”.

When asked on the support of Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance), Rahul Gandhi thanked the opposition parties and said togather they would oust the BJP. However, RaGa and Congress should now be more careful in choosing friends especially before going with alliances like Trinamool.

Today’s Press conference will definitely have a strong reaction from the BJP which I am sure is gearing up to give a Press briefing any moment. Opposition will have to do a good homework as Rahul’s conviction “I shall expose the Adani-Modi relationship in coming days and will prove what ever I said was not concocted but on facts”.  “I will keep asking questions on Adani issue, I won’t stop as it’s my conviction towards my countrymen”, said Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress plans to hold nationwide agitations demanding a reply on Adani issue from PM Modi. Security has been beefed up across the country especially at strategic locations.

Delhi Cong Chief Anil Chaudhary stages protest march demanding JPC

Political corridors in Delhi is brewing with immense agression as the opposition parties had been demanding a reply from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Parliament over what they call is giving a walkover to the Adani inspite of enough evidence of money laundering.

On Thursday, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) Chief Anil Chaudhary, staged a protest march outside Lieutenant Governor’s (LG) residence demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Speaking to the Press, DPCC Chief said, “Why the government is finding it so difficult to constitute a JPC, we are not saying or accusing BJP but asking a probe into the allegations of the Adani”. “Does that mean Adani and BJP are same?”, added Chaudhary.

Anil Chaudhary made series of tweets demanding JPC.

Parliament has been witnessing a logjam for fourth consecutive day and over the demand of a JPC. However, some of the parties especially like the Trinamool and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who are shouting for JPC has already lost it’s face in West Bengal and Delhi respectively, after the Encouragement Directorate (ED) had unearthed crores of unaccounted assets from their top leaders including ministers. None other than Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is facing charges of money laundering and helping the liquor mafias to open shops and thekas in Delhi.

Kaustav Bagchi’s arrest confirms ‘material’ in Deepak Ghosh’s book; Controversial but true

Is Trinamool scared of the skeletons coming out of the closet? Or is it aunt and nephew oth are finally finding it hard to attract crowds to attract to their rhetorics? The recent defeat of Trinamool in North East has exposed their face that has totally been exposed. The arrest of Congress spokesperson Kaustav Bagchi on Saturday morning for his alleged comments against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee is not doing it for the first time, she had shown high handedness and asked her police to confiscate the books penned by former top cop Nazrul Islam and Deepak Ghosh (the book that was refered by Bagchi at a press conference and warning Trinamool of exposing the facts.)

On Saturday early morning Bagchi was picked up from his residence by the Burtolla police station. They also conducted a raid at Bagchi’s residence at Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. Since then nitizens on social media platforms have opened a verbal war against Trinamool and Supremo Mamata Banerjee who always speaks of ethics and morals but fail to follow the basic tenets of humanity.

Bagchi, a lawyer had reacted sharply and allegedly criticised the Bengal Chief Minister and CM and Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee for her “personal attacks” on West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury after the Congress’ win in the Sagardighi bypolls.

Taking a pick at the Trinamool Supremo, Bagchi said, he will not bow down to the threats and will expose the party. Bagchi has been booked under several sections of the IPC including 120(B) (criminal conspiracy), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and other sections.

The legal cell of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has assured full co-operation and decided to stand beside him. Former Mayor and senior CPI(M) leader Bikash Ranjan Chowdhury is fighting the case for Bagchi. Will senior Congres leaders like Kapil Sibbal and Manu Singhvi still stand up to fight cases on behalf of Trinamool and Supremo? If they do then they have no value for own party member.

Tripura, Meghalaya & Sagardighi defeat expose Trinamool’s tall claims

Trinamool Supremo during campaigning in Meghalaya remarked she was surprised to find rhythmic and musical names of people and villages, she also made a sound “kakoooo…oooo…”. The problem is politicians explore “beautiful people or places” just before elections and people understand this better today. It’s because of this, Trinamool has lost its opportunity in the north East.

In Tripura Trinamool failed to open its account and stood at zero seats. Both Supremo and nephew turned general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee made tall claims of the presence of Trinamool and its win in Tripura but they failed to understand the mood and sentiments of people.

The next state is Meghalaya, the party has won only five seats. Once again, both Supremo and Abhishek Banerjee made frequent visits by wasting money. Trinamool made tall claims of winning but today when the results have come it’s clear that the party has lost on the face value.

Back home in West Bengal, by polls took place in Murshidabad’s Sagardighi. Trinamool lost the seat to Left Front and Congress alliance. Sagardighi is quite significant as this constituency is Muslim dominated and Mamata Banerjee is known for her Muslim appeasement but the results are enough to prove that she has lost the faith and trust of the Muslims after what she did with Naushad Siddiqui. Bayron Biswas defeated Trinamool with record margin.

The results are enough to explain that Trinamool is fast losing its reach among the people in the state that had brought her in 2011. Also, the results should be a warning and a wake up call for Mamata Banerjee and her party before the Panchayat Polls knocking at the door. Trinamool must do an introspection and find out why people are suddenly drifting apart which is certainly not a healthy development.

Himachal Pradesh: Sukhvinder Singh ‘Sukhu’ to become CM, Agnihotri Dy CM

Congress in In the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh, is all set to constitute their government. Though, the celebrations were outshined by the protests and agitations over the name of chief minister since december 8, 2022 when the results were declared. The political turmoil that continued for the past two days has come to an end with a consensus on the name of Sukhwinder Singh ‘Sukhu’, a four-time MLA and chairman of the Congress’ state election campaign committee as the new Chief Minister. Mukesh Agnihotri will be his deputy.

The party’s central observers announced the election of 58-year-old Sukhu as the Congress legislature party leader after the meeting of MLAs on Saturday evening here following days of intense lobbying by aspirants including Pratibha Singh, the state unit chief and wife of late party stalwart Virbhadra Singh.

Congress bagged 40 seats, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got 25 seats, and others three. The Aam Aaadmi Party (AAP) failed to open its account.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Sunday and senior leaders including party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will attend.

MCD Polls 2022: Delhi-ites voting to elect councilors, low vote percentage till afternoon

Around 1.5 crore electorates will cast their mandate across 250 wards, for the Municipal Corp[oration of Delhi (MCD) elections taking place on Sunday today. The voting percentage till 12 noon which is 18 per cent shows very poor voting in the city. Though, there is still enough time for people to come out of their houses and cast their votes. Many are expected to turn out in the afternoon being a Sunday. Voting began at 8 am and polling station gates will be shut at 5.30 pm.

There are 1,349 candidates in the fray and over 1.45 crore electors are eligible to exercise their franchise in the elections to the 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the results of which may have ramifications beyond the national capital.

The main fight is between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Congress. On the side lines of the MCD polls, all the parties were seen engaging in the allegation and counter allegation syndrome. However, AAP seems to be over confidant in saying that it will win the MCD and oust the BJP as people in the city are with them and are not happy with the Saffron.

Elect your councillor carefully, bring best in MCD

Barely 24-hours left for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls. All the political parties have done their best in terms of campaigning.

The viral video of Satyendra Jain may or may not prove to be a game changer. Electorates by and large have decided who to elect.

Around 250 municipal wards will go to polls on Sunday. Like all civic polls, the MCD poll 2022 too has immense significance. Civic polls are directly connected with people and local issues. In case of issues relating to drainage, cleanliness, water logging, or anything regarding city roads etc, it’s the municipality that we first blame. In that case, you need to have a sound political party in the civic body as only then your problems will be solved and at present there is no other option but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It’s not that BJP has done mind boggling development across the ward the city but it has maintained a consistency like cleaning of garbages or roads and pavements.

The political tug-of-war is between BJP, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress. AAP has been making noise that people in Delhi will elect them in power. Dy chief minister Manish Sisodia in a recent campaign trail at Mayur Vihar, east Delhi, said, “दिल्ली को अगर सफाई और कूड़ा मुक्त करना है, तो आप की सरकार को लाना है…” (If you want a clean and garbage free Delhi then bring AAP in MCD”. Sisodia should have been told, least talk of development in Municipality but what has AAP done in the city? Not a single developmental project. On top of it it crippled Delhi with it’s liquor politics. Masterplan was flouted to open liquor shops, ‘thekas’ even 100 metre radius of religious places and educational institutions. People fumed, protested but it fell on the deaf ears of AAP that claim to be the perhaps only political party to think for people, women.

The stage has been set, ball set rolling… On Sunday people will excercise their franchise to elect their respective councilors and subsequently, mayor would be selected. The actual scenario will come to light on December 7, 2022, when results will be declared.

Campaigning for MCD polls end, interesting to watch who wins

Stage has been set… All the preparations are complete… If you are still wandering what I am talking about… I am referring to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls scheduled to take place on December 4, 2022. With barely 48 hours left, the campaigning came to a close at 5pm today. Now, it’s the waiting for the election day. Political parties Predominantly three parties in the fray – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Congress.

All the three parties have done their best as far as the campaigning goes. Some candidates have added a personal touch by going around houses, touching feet of elders and requesting them to vote for him or her. The others have taken out processions across the lanes and bylanes of their constituencies. In short, all the parties in this MCD have done extensive campaigning.

It was after decades I saw candidates almost daily hitting the road and interacting with locals at least it happened in Mayur Vihar constituency. While talking to locals, I found their criteria to elect their councillor is clear. Locals would go for that person who stay in the area or is easily accessible.

In this MCD polls, the most significant thing that has turned out to be an attraction is the fielding of women candidates in large number.

Though it’s too early to predict who will win the MCD polls but going by the trends, there is an indication of cut throat fight between BJP and AAP. Not only there will be one of them will put a dent on the other but will help the other party to win under anti-incumbency factor. Congress that used to be at the helm once, will only put dent or cut votes.

Apart from development, the issue of the viral video tape of Satyendra Jain is already working in favour of BJP which has and have touched to expose the AAP in the coming days.

MCD polls will decide the respective councillors and in broad sphere, the mayor. People are decided as some openly say BJP will be able to retain its MCD seat while others opine that AAP will come to MCD. Too early to react though, the results will be out on December 7, 2022.

MCD Polls 2022: BJP releases its manifesto, highlights ‘Jahan Jhuggi wahan makaan’ scheme

Finally, the elections for Delhi Municipal Corporations (MCD) have been announced. The dates were announced by State Election Commissioner Vijay Dev announced the dates on Friday. MCD elections will take place on December 4, 2022 and the counting of votes will commence on December 7, 2022. With the announcement of the dates, political parties – Bharatiya Jananta Party (BJP), Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have fastened their seat-belts to find ways to impress and woo the voters. The real fight is between BJP and AAP. BJP which is already in power in the civic body in the state says people will not vote for AAP as they are in no mood to take the false convictions by AAP. BJP has slammed the AAP over playing a dirty political game over liquor politics. One of major attraction of the BJP’s manifesto in the MCD polls is the ‘Jahan Jhuggi wahan Makaan Scheme’, permanent houses for the slum dwellers.

On Friday, today, BJP Delhi chief Adesh Gupta and the party MP Manoj Tiwari released the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Delhi civic polls. The BJP national president JP Nadda Earlier on Wednesday chaired a Delhi BJP core group meeting at his residence in the national capital over the elections.

Permanent ‘pucca’ houses to slum dwellers: BJP released its ‘Vachan Patra’ or commitment letter promising houses for slum dwellers under the ‘Jahan Jhuggi wahan Makaan Scheme’. It may be recalled, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 3,024 newly constructed Economically Weaker Section (EWS) flats last month under the national capital as part of an In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation (ISSR) project and handed over their keys to slum dwellers at Bhoomiheen camp.

These flats were built by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) under its in-situ slum rehabilitation project.

Let’s take a glance at some of the other salient features of the m,anifesto or ‘Vachan Patra’:

  1. Proper disposal of garbage in the capital. Garbage disposal has been one of the key issues in the national capital ahead of the civic body polls.
  2. Checking corruption in government departments.
  3. Improvement of civic amenities.

The ‘Wachan Patra’ has a form which they will fill and the BJP workers will submit them to the departments concerned and the slum dwellers will get houses.

The rival AAP will also launch its manifesto soon.

There will be 13,665 polling stations across the 250 wards, while the total number of voters in the city stands at 1.46 crore, according to the electoral rolls with the qualifying date of January 1, 2022. The results will be declared on December 8, 2022.
