The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in association with Delhi Police alongwith Raahgiri foundation, SNM and Nagarro is organising Raahgiri Day at Connaught Place on Sunday ie. March 26, 2023. Commuters are advised to avoid the Inner Circle from 7am to 10 am.
The event is an initiative to promote sustainable transportation and reduce air pollution in the city and create safe and inclusive streets for all.
Please follow the traffic restrictions to avoid chaos or commotion. The Delhi Traffic Police has tweeted a traffic advisory.
Parking arrangement has been done for the visitors.
The Raahgiri Day is part of the NDMC and Delhi Police’s G20 ongoing efforts to create a sustainable and livable city for all citizens with believe that by promoting sustainable transportation.
New Years eve is an moment to celebrate as the year we are in gradually takes backstage and make way for the New Year. Today, is December 31, 2022, in a few hours from now, the year 2022 will bid adieu and the New Year 2023 will take over. People all over the globe are gearing up to welcome 2023. In Delhi, advisories have been issued by the Delhi Police and Delhi Traffic Police. Apart from them, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also issued advisory that there will be no exit at the Rajiv Chowk metro station after 9 pm.
In order to maintain law and order in the state, the Delhi Police has announced heavy deployment of forces. There will deployment of over 16,500 Delhi Police personnel. on , 1,000 traffic officials, 125 anti-drinking squads. Special focus will be on eve-teasers, mollesters, and stalkers. There will be over 2,500 women police who will keep a vigil, so that no untoward incident takes place. Taking the past incidences of drunken driving into account, there will be a strict vigil on those drive drunk. The anti-driving squad will keep an eye across the city. Entry and exit points in the city will be also under the scanner.
In its advisory, the Delhi Police has asked not to venture towards Connaught Place inner circle after 8 pm as all the entry points will be closed to traffic and will remain closed till the New Years bash is over. Similarly, there will be traffic diversions and restrictions across the city. There will be also traffic curbs around Ajmere Gate and Paharganj terminals. Those going to the station should set out early to avoid the traffic snarls.
Traffic Police too has issued advisory. Delhi Traffic Police tweeted:
Strict vigil will be kept on the errant biker’s gangs that creates havoc in and around the Bangla Sahib Road and Gol Dak Khana off towards Baba Kharak Singh Marg turning towards Connaught Place. Not only they risk their own lives with stunts but turn out to be a pic headache for the people travelling on these roads. Accident waiting to happen anytime.
Enjoy the New Year’s eve bash but be careful you don’t breach the security and dignity of city and people. Entire city will be under scanner.
