Delhi BJP launches public awareness programme against AAP’s liquor politics; distributes leaflets at metro stations

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that had been vocal against the liquor politics of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) since begining and had carried out protests, agitations and held regular Press conferences since last year has taked a step forward to expose the liquor mafias. On Friday (today), Delhi BJP launched a public awareness campaign by distributing leaflets at metro stations across Delhi to apprise Delhi-ites against the liquor scam. “It is the right of Delhiites to know the black role of Kejriwal in the liquor scam”, said Virendra Sachdeva, President Delhi BJP.

Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Delhi Assembly, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, who had been vocal and regularly held Press conferences on the issue said, “All the BJP MLAs will demand resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal before the Assembly sessions starts. Last year, Bidhuri had raised the issue of flouting Master Plan and demanded a reply from the Kejriwal government.

Liquor scam needs no introduction for Delhi-ites as people across Delhi NCR had witnessed the lawlessness that created havoc for city dwellers especially women who had face molestation, eve-teasing by anti-socials. Worst, a gang rape had taken place in East Delhi’s Vivek Vihar in February last year where the prime accused had been liquor mafias. Numerous shops, thekas opened across the city like mushroom. The Delhi government had allegedly tampered and flouted the Master Plan as in Delhi opening liquor shops are prohibited within 100 metres of religious, educational and residential establishments. Liquor shops were opened next to religious places, opposite educational institutions and below apartments or housings. Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor, Arvind Kejriwal had turned a deaf ear to the complaints of Delhi-ites. If this was not enough, the number of dry days were reduced to three from 22. Buy one, get one free schemes were introduced to appease drinkers and ruin households.

Virendra Sachdeva said that it is the right of the people of Delhi to know about the black role of the Kejriwal government in the liquor scam, and therefore the BJP has launched this public relations campaign so that the people of Delhi know the intention behind the liquor scam of Kejriwal and Sisodia. “People must know the motive of Kejriwal and Sisodia behind giving one free bottle, opening more and more liquor vends and then reducing the number of dry days”, added Sachdeva.

Arvind Kejriwal is directly involved in the scam worth thousands of crores and he cannot run away from his responsibility. He said that this movement of Delhi BJP will continue till Kejriwal resigns from his post.

Sachdeva said that the Kejriwal government has caused a loss of crores of rupees to the revenue of Delhi by scam in the new liquor policy, it is necessary to discuss it with the people because the tax payers of Delhi have the right to know as after all its their tax money people should know what did the Kejriwal government do with the money? He said that the people of Delhi have also understood that Kejriwal has done the work of intoxicating the youth of Delhi.

Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said, Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal have an important role not only in the liquor scam but also in the espionage case and the BJP has demanded that action should be taken against both the leaders by registering a sedition case.

BJP MP Dr Harsh Vardhan along with BJP Chandni Chowk District President Sardar Kuldeep Singh and other workers distributed leaflets outside Kashmir Gate Metro Station and made people aware about the liquor scam of Kejriwal government. State General Secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal distributed leaflets with Shahdara District General Secretary Yashpal Cantura and BJP workers outside Laxminagar Metro Station and made people aware of the liquor scam of the Kejriwal government. Former State President Adesh Gupta along with Keshavpuram District BJP President Rajkumar Bhatia distributed leaflets outside Adarsh Nagar Metro Station and made people aware of the liquor scam of the Kejriwal government.

Manish Sisodia arrested in liquor scam; Question will be asked to Kejriwal too

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia has been placed under arrest after eight-hours of interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over his alleged connection with the corruption charges in the 100 crore liquor scam.

Manish Sisodia was summoned by the CBI last Sunday but Sisodia had seek some time as he would be occupied due to Budget session and related events. The CBI granted and asked him to appear on February 26 (today). In the morning, Sisodia had first gone to Raj Ghat to offer his prayers at the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi and from there he alongwith Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders headed for the CBI headquarters. He was arrested after eight hours of grilling.

According to updates the CBI will be producing Sisodia in the Rouse Avenue Court on Monday. A medical check up will be conducted prior to that as per the rules.

Manish Sisodia may not be directly involved with the scam but he will have answer a few questions as he was also a party to the rolling back of Excise policy. Apart from that, he is the right hand man of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and knows many things that is related with the liquor politics.

Some of the questions that Arvind Kejriwal will have to answer are:

1) Why AAP government rolled back the much hyped Excise policy that Kejriwal always complimented?

2) Why blacklisted companies and liquor mafias were encouraged to open shops in Delhi NCR?

3) Liquor shops were opened within the restricted 100 metres of religious and educational institutions flouting the Master Plan of Delhi which prohibits opening of liquor shops and ‘thekas within 100 metres of educational and religious institutions.

4) What is the ‘South Lobby’ and involvement of Vijay Nair? Who got the maximum advantage from the kickbacks?

Arvind Kejriwal cannot run away from answering these questions by blaming on “vindictive politics” by BJP as he had been doing. The safety and security of Delhi NCR was compromised as anti-socials had a free ride all over the city. Not to forget the gangrape that took place in February last year raising finger at two liquor mafias.

Delhi women, RWAs, stage protest against Kejriwal’s liquor politics; AAP defiant

“Kejriwal government has ruined the essence of Delhi by opening liquor shops, thekas, and allowing liquor mafias to open outlets in the city. These people should be thrown away from the power”, these were the words of local residents in Govindpuri a few months back when a liquor shop was being opened in front of the Maharaja Agrasen College. Locals including women had sat on dharna to protest against opening of the shop. “We are scared not only for our own children but in general as a large number of young boys and girls come here and stay in the paying guest accommodations across the area. Liquor shops would bring anti-socials and it will create a security breach”, said Kumar, an elderly citizen.

Not just Govindpuri or Kalkaji, this was the situation across entire Delhi. Liquor shops would come up at every nook and corner in the city. Many Residential Welfare Associations (RWA) had raised their voices and compelled the shops to close down. In this context, I recall another shop a little away from this place (near Gali No 12 or 13 in Govindpuri), as locals had come out on the streets and created a menace out of it.

It was during this time I had the opportunity to attend the Press Conference at the Pant Marg office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was held to discuss how Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had allegedly flouted the masterplan of Delhi to accommodate the liquor mafias. The Press Conference was attended by Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Delhi Assembly, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, and the four Mayors of Delhi. “We have found serious anomalies by AAP in order to help the liquor mafias to enter Delhi from outside states”, said Bidhuri. “There has been a tampering with Delhi’s masterplan as you are aware that in delhi no liquor shop or theka can open if there is a religious place or educational institutions and even residential areas within the 100 metre radius but shops and thekas are being open all over”, added Bidhuri.

Today, after the BJP’s stings on AAP, its clear why AAP had to enter into this filthy game of liquor politics allegedly.Delhi Chief Minister and AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal had announced that his party would contest each and every elections in the country. The party needed money to contest the Assembly polls in Punjab and Goa.
