Manish Sisodia in CBI remand till March 5; more in coming days

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was produced at the Rouse Avenue Court on Monday afternoon. Sisodia, a close confidant of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday evening after grilling for eight hours.

The Aam Aadmi Party had staged a massive protest near the Court and had plans to gherao the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office. There was heavy deployment of the police, Rapid Action Force (FAF) was made along the route. Senior police officers of Special Commissioner of Police rank maned the street outside the Court.

The police even prepared a dummy scene ahead of Sisodia’s car came inorder to feel the pulses of the agressive crowd. Sisodia arrived little after 3:15 pm. The party also staged protests outside the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Headquarters at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in the national capital. Entire traffic crumbled on the route.

During the hearing, the council for Manish Sisodia pleaded his client was not guilty and moved bail plea. CBI said Sisodia was not co-operating in the investigation. To this, Sisodia’s Council said, their client is not liable to accept whatever CBI asks him or confess to the allegations, Sisodia has full liberty to reply or remain silent. CBI in reply to this said they did not ask Sisodia to agree to what CBI says or confess but expect Sisodia to co-operate in the investigation.

CBI requested the Court to allow five days remand as they have many things to ask Sisodia including the sudden increase in margin for liquor vendors from five per cent to 12 per cent.

Coming days many be that smooth for Sisodia as CBI will be asking questions Sisodia many questions that will also put the AAP in uncomfortable situation.

Manish Sisodia arrested in liquor scam; Question will be asked to Kejriwal too

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia has been placed under arrest after eight-hours of interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over his alleged connection with the corruption charges in the 100 crore liquor scam.

Manish Sisodia was summoned by the CBI last Sunday but Sisodia had seek some time as he would be occupied due to Budget session and related events. The CBI granted and asked him to appear on February 26 (today). In the morning, Sisodia had first gone to Raj Ghat to offer his prayers at the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi and from there he alongwith Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders headed for the CBI headquarters. He was arrested after eight hours of grilling.

According to updates the CBI will be producing Sisodia in the Rouse Avenue Court on Monday. A medical check up will be conducted prior to that as per the rules.

Manish Sisodia may not be directly involved with the scam but he will have answer a few questions as he was also a party to the rolling back of Excise policy. Apart from that, he is the right hand man of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and knows many things that is related with the liquor politics.

Some of the questions that Arvind Kejriwal will have to answer are:

1) Why AAP government rolled back the much hyped Excise policy that Kejriwal always complimented?

2) Why blacklisted companies and liquor mafias were encouraged to open shops in Delhi NCR?

3) Liquor shops were opened within the restricted 100 metres of religious and educational institutions flouting the Master Plan of Delhi which prohibits opening of liquor shops and ‘thekas within 100 metres of educational and religious institutions.

4) What is the ‘South Lobby’ and involvement of Vijay Nair? Who got the maximum advantage from the kickbacks?

Arvind Kejriwal cannot run away from answering these questions by blaming on “vindictive politics” by BJP as he had been doing. The safety and security of Delhi NCR was compromised as anti-socials had a free ride all over the city. Not to forget the gangrape that took place in February last year raising finger at two liquor mafias.

Expose soon on Kejriwal’s obligations to offer VIP treatment to Satyendra Jain, says BJP

The viral video showing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister Satyandra Jain getting massage from a man inside his cell in Tihar Jail has put the party in serious trouble. Not only the man and the minister have violated the Jail rules but the man giving Jain massage is an alleged rapist serving punishment under POCSO Act. This means the AAP which jumped into the rescue of Jain immediately after the video surfaced stating it as a ‘anti propaganda’ by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and claimed that the minister was advised to take massage from doctor and the man giving him massage was a physiotherapist. This raised immense uproar as BJP held a press conference and proved that the man in the video giving Jain massage was not a “physiotherapist” but a ‘rapist’.

The AAP is in Catch 22 situation over the controversial viral video showing Satyendra Jain getting massage from a POCSO accused.

Earlier, manish Sisodia, deputy chief minister of Delhi and close confidant of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal in the press conference said come what may, the party will not expel Jain. When asked about the allegations hurled at him, Sisodia said they don’t buy the allegations and one must not expect AAP would take action on whatever is being said… These were the defiant words of Sisodia.

However, the AAP members have ducked ever since the news of “physiotherapist’ being a rapist has come into glare. Kejriwal, too is silent and has been evading the topic by making rhetoric on morals and ethics. Pity! The party that came to power in Delhi on making tall convictions from stopping corruption to punishing the corrupt and drawing a sorry face is talking of ethics and morals.

BJP said that more press conferences will follow in the coming days that would expose the lies of AAP and also what are the obligations of Kejriwal to provide VIP treatment to Satyendra Jain.

Delhi women, RWAs, stage protest against Kejriwal’s liquor politics; AAP defiant

“Kejriwal government has ruined the essence of Delhi by opening liquor shops, thekas, and allowing liquor mafias to open outlets in the city. These people should be thrown away from the power”, these were the words of local residents in Govindpuri a few months back when a liquor shop was being opened in front of the Maharaja Agrasen College. Locals including women had sat on dharna to protest against opening of the shop. “We are scared not only for our own children but in general as a large number of young boys and girls come here and stay in the paying guest accommodations across the area. Liquor shops would bring anti-socials and it will create a security breach”, said Kumar, an elderly citizen.

Not just Govindpuri or Kalkaji, this was the situation across entire Delhi. Liquor shops would come up at every nook and corner in the city. Many Residential Welfare Associations (RWA) had raised their voices and compelled the shops to close down. In this context, I recall another shop a little away from this place (near Gali No 12 or 13 in Govindpuri), as locals had come out on the streets and created a menace out of it.

It was during this time I had the opportunity to attend the Press Conference at the Pant Marg office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was held to discuss how Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had allegedly flouted the masterplan of Delhi to accommodate the liquor mafias. The Press Conference was attended by Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Delhi Assembly, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, and the four Mayors of Delhi. “We have found serious anomalies by AAP in order to help the liquor mafias to enter Delhi from outside states”, said Bidhuri. “There has been a tampering with Delhi’s masterplan as you are aware that in delhi no liquor shop or theka can open if there is a religious place or educational institutions and even residential areas within the 100 metre radius but shops and thekas are being open all over”, added Bidhuri.

Today, after the BJP’s stings on AAP, its clear why AAP had to enter into this filthy game of liquor politics allegedly.Delhi Chief Minister and AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal had announced that his party would contest each and every elections in the country. The party needed money to contest the Assembly polls in Punjab and Goa.

Kudos BJP! Illegal liquor shops in ‘Delhi’ to shut down

Kudos! To Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for compelling a roll back in excise policy and closing down all the liquor shops those had opened across Delhi NCR since last few months. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had allegedly chose the easiest way to fetch money for the then Punjab, and Goa Assembly elections.

Not only the safety and security of Delhi was compromised as liquor mafias from outside Delhi were enjoying all the privileges but the AAP government had flouted Master Plan and given illegal licences to liquor mafias allowing them to open shops in front of religious, educational, and residential places. According to Master Plan of Delhi opening of liquor shops is prohibited having religious, educational places within 100 metres radius.

AAP transformed the city into a liquor capital. Women in residential areas were angry and requested Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to close the outlets but it was of no use as for Kejriwal government it was not an important issue. Finally, Lieutenant Governor took the issue and compelled AAP government to respond and termed it as a scam.

Is Kejriwal trying to say Delhi-ites happy with liquor shops mushrooming? Does he interact with people?

Ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated a 15-hour raid at the residence of Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister and close confidant of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he has become vocal on trying to prove he and his party is holy cow. Really? Why was he silent when people were requesting him to change the excise policy that saw opening of liquor shops across Delhi. The BJP had accused Delhi government of flouting city’s Master Plan to accommodate liquor mafias open shops having educational and religious institutions within the 100 metre redius.

Today, we hear the CM making a reaction on the liquor allegations but we did not hear a single word when a 20-year-old was gang-raped, tonsured, garlanded with slippers and paraded with a blackened face in the Kasturba Nagar area in the national capital. She was attacked by a a group of people, including women, who chopped off her hair, tore her clothes, blackened her face. The woman was also allegedly sexually assaulted. The accused were found to be illicit liquor sellers residing in the area.

Women safety is what Delhi CM always boasts off but he never cared to listen to the plight of women who had requested Kejriwal to roll back on his liquor policy and remove the shops from residential areas. They had expressed fear of anti-social elements becoming powerful creatingh mess across the city. Kejriwal never paid any heed but he offered ‘buy one get one free’ scheme. I had myself met people while reporting on the issue and found both men and women across Delhi fuming. During opening of a liquor shop bang opposite Maharaja Agrasen College, in Govindpuri, south Delhi, I interacted with a group of senior citizen sitting on an indefinite dharna who said they would like to teach Kejriwal a lesson for disturbing the peace and calm in the area. Locals had expressed concerns about the safety and security of females.

On Thursday, today, Kejriwal along with his party members paid a visit to Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial. He accused the BJP of trying to topple his government. He said BJP needs 40 MLAs and it has kept Rs 800 crore to achieve this. Why does he have to do a photo opp at Raj Ghat to prove BJP was trying to implicate the ‘holy cow’ government into false cases.

The problem is people in Delhi have lost the trust they had ushered in Kejriwal due to various reasons that shattered the image of Delhi government.
