Diplomacy will end Russia-Ukraine conflict, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Indonesia on Monday to attend the Group 20 (G20) Summit at Bali, Indonesia. He received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora at the airport . The people from the Indian community sang “chithi aayee hai…” the Hindi song from film Naam (1986).

Ahead of his visit to G20 Summit, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) had issued a statement, “PM Modi will have extensive discussions with other G20 leaders on key issues of global concern, such as reviving global growth, food & energy security, environment, health, and digital transformation.” He will participate in three key sessions dealing with health, digital transformation and food and energy security.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo opened the G20 Summit on Tuesday with leaders expected to pile pressure on member Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. In his opening remarks, PM Modi said, “I have repeatedly said that we have to find a way to return to the path of ceasefire and diplomacy in Ukraine”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an interaction with all the world leaders. He was seen sharing lighter moments with Joe Biden, President of United States of America. PM Modi also had a talk with his British counterpart, Rishi Sunak.

“The Summit will witness extensive deliberations on ways to overcome important global challenges. It will also focus on ways to further sustainable development across our planet,” the Prime Minister’s Office had tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday cautioned the G-20 leaders that today’s fertiliser shortage could become tomorrow’s food crisis as he strongly pitched for maintaining a “stable” supply chain for both manure and food grains.

During the summit, PM Modi will also takeover the G20 presidency from Indonesia. The logo, theme and website of the India G20 presidency were unveiled last week by him during a virtual briefing.
