Speculations over new party ahead of Ghulam Nabi Azad’s public meeting on Sept 4

Speculations rising high if former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will announce his new party from the public rally on September 4, 2022. This is going to be first public interaction by Azad with locals after quitting Congress and accusing Rahul Gandhi for the devastation of the party. Azad’s public meeting will be held on the same day when RaGa will hold a rally in Delhi – ‘Mehngai par Halla Bol’ on price rise.

With the timing of Azad’s launch event in Jammu and Kashmir coinciding with Gandhi’s rally, it will be seen if there are more fireworks on the day the former Congress chief addresses the mega event at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan.

Azad has said his resignation letter was just a “tip of the iceberg”, indicating that he would step up his attack on the Gandhis in the coming days.

He has already stated that he would float his own party in Jammu and Kashmir soon, where assembly elections are due to be announced.

Ahead of Azad’s Sunday rally in Jammu’s Sainik farms, there has been a spate of resignations in the Jammu and Kashmir Congress.

Sixty-four more leaders, including former deputy chief minister Tara Chand, tendered their resignation and joined the Ghulam Nabi Azad camp on Tuesday, leaving the unit of the national party in the Union Territory in tatters.

The former Union minister had targeted Rahul Gandhi in his five-page resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi last Friday.

Azad had launched a stinging attack on Rahul Gandhi describing him as “immature” and “childish” and accusing the leadership of “foisting a non-serious individual” at the helm of the party.

Azad mentioned Rahul Gandhi seven times, accusing him of running the party through a “new coterie of inexperienced sycophants”.

Azad, 73, who ended his nearly five-decade association with the Congress, also attacked party chief Sonia Gandhi for applying the “remote control model that demolished the institutional integrity of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government” to the party.

He also reminded Sonia Gandhi that she was just a “nominal figurehead” and all the important decisions were being taken by Rahul Gandhi or “rather worse his security guards and PAs”.

Azad slammed Rahul Gandhi’s conduct within the party and singled out his action of tearing up a government ordinance in “full glare” of the media.

“One of the most glaring examples of this immaturity was the tearing up of a government ordinance in the full glare of the media by Shri Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

“The said ordinance was incubated in the Congress Core Group and subsequently unanimously approved by the Union Cabinet presided over by the Prime Minister of India and duly approved even by the President of India.

“This ‘childish’ behaviour completely subverted the authority of the Prime Minister and Government of India,” said Azad, who served as Health Minister in the UPA-II government.

Dumka MLA Basant Soren sees “prem prasang” in Ankita case, plays politics

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) members are finding it hard to eschew that Ankita died because of incompetent state government that cannot provide an ambulance to the girl as political fraternity was busy travelling to different place in wake of political crisis. There are primary health facilities in the state. Ankita needed an ointment but even for that she had be referred to Ranchi. Jharkhand CM is yet to open his mouth who is busy in securing a safe place for him, his family. The present political crisis is enough to end his career in politics.

Shame on people like Dumka MLA, Basant Soren, brother of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, this man says, “prem prasang ke mamle mein hum aap kya karenge” (what can be done in a matter of love affair). When the media countered Soren, he found his stand may land him in problem.

Arrogant Soren said, “I shall carry a detailed investigation and if I find I am wrong then will apologize but not before that”. This man further said he, “Main Basant Soren hoon, main jhuth nahin bolta” (I am Basant Soren, I told lie). Is he the only holy cow left in this entire world?

It’s clear where from goons like Sharukh (the accused) get the audacity to do such things. Basant Soren, may make tall claims but his attitude and approach towards this incident is enough to explain the outcome.

Trinamool MP Saugata Roy threatens opposition with ‘shoe’

Trinamool had come to power in 2011 after people wanted to get rid of the misrule of Left regime in the state. The party had coined two catch phrases – ‘bodla noi bodol chai’ (not revenge but change), and ‘Maa Mati Manush’. Nandigram and Shingur were too scape goats that Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee had banked upon. The two issues were blown out of proportion, as even today inspite of so-called “greenland” Shingur is reeling under unemployment. It was Banerjee who kicked out the Tata’s Nano project out of the state. Talk to locals in Shingur, they now confide, had they not been washed away by false promises of “Didi” then Shingur too would have developed like other Tata bastions. Infact, ancillary industries had come up in the region.

Veteran Trinamool MP (from Dum Dum, north Kolkata), and retired professor of Physics from the iconic the Aushotosh College during a political meeting in Kolkata said, “If there is any BJP or CPI(M) activist in Kolkata, listen carefully. If any of you cross the limits of decency by branding every one of the TMC as thieves while attacking the party, don’t blame us if our party men beat you up with shoes.” This has sparked off serious controversy as the opposition in the state look at it as an open threatening. The veteran MP had warned the opposition by saying, “Don’t complain if you are driven out of your locality by our members”.

Perhaps, Saugata Roy has also forgotten the coinage “bodla noi bodol chai” or was this a mere slogan to woo voters? According to party spokesperson, Kunal Ghosh who tried to cover up the controversy, said, the recent attacks on Trinamool leaders in wake of Partha Chatterjee and Anubrata Mandol episode has probably hurt Roy.

Dynasty rule in Congress ruins the party, needs a leader

Congress that once used to be the primary political party in the country has not only lost its reach but vote bank too. This has predominantly happened as Congress failed to read the nerves of its voters, loyal for decades. Rahul Gandhi has failed miserably as party president as RaGa has never been interested in the active politics. Inspite of his sister Priyanka always been interested in politics, the party never thought of fetching her for important positions like party president.

Another reason why the party is on the verge of ruining is its ‘dynasty politics’, the cult structure of Congress as members can’t see any name beyond the Gandhi’s. On Friday, veteran Congressman and Indira loyalist Ghulam Nabi Azad called party election as “farce and sham”. There is nothing wrong if veterans expect a prized position within the party. Infact, the party needs a leader and not a poster-boy.

On Saturday, veteran Congressman Mallikarjun Kharge said, they are trying to convince RaGa to accept party presidentship as there are no face pan-India who could promote and carry forward Congress legacy. He further said, Rahul Gandhi is himself not keen in becoming party president but the members have unanimously decided to request RaGa to become president.

This in itself once again explains the mindset of Congress members that cannot see any name beyond the Gandhi’s. Perhaps, people like Jyotiraditya Scindia or Sachin Pilot can give a better leadership to the party. However, Kharge did not mention the name of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra even once whom we all saw doing a great job as Uttar Pradesh incharge during the state Assembly Elections in 2022. Priyanka reached out to a large number of women with her “beti hoon, lad sakti hoon” campaign.

Congress today, needs a leader who can help the party to pass the litmus test, and not a poster-boy for pan-India publicity.

Jungle Raj comes back in Bihar? Dark days ahead

Has ‘jungle raj’ come back in Bihar? This is the question everybody has been asking after watching the disturbing video showing state ADM (Law & Order), KK Singh thrashing a protester blue and black. The boy who along with others participated in a protest by CTET and BTET qualified candidates demanding 7th phase teacher’s recruitment at Dakbangla intersection in Patna. The visuals are enough to explain situation in Bihar.

The social media has been abuzz condemning the Janata Dal (United) -Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance government.

JD(U)-RJD alliance has exposed itself on Monday. This incident is a warning to the protesters so that they will not raise their head. Somebody should tell the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (grand alliance) that dreams of coming to power in 2024 to be little constraints as such inhuman activities will not be tolerated. Nitish Kumar has perhaps forgotten that Assembly elections are due and if this remains the attitude of his government then people will take no time to kick out the alliance government in the state. However, whether it will come to power or not in the state is still vague as RJD regime was the dark phase in Bihar as ther was no social security and safety of locals. Abductions, murders, rapes, gang-rapes, extortion bid were at rampant.

The barbaric act was condemned by opposition and Congress that is one of the alliance members in the ‘Mahagathbandhan’.

The Bihar BJP condemned the incident in a Twitter post, “Is this government blind, which uses lathis on Tiranga (tricolour)? Is this government deaf, those who fire cartridges are given pens.” It further said, that “while it is a hobby for some, fun for another but for the public it is helplessness.”

State Congress spokesman Asit Nath Tiwari, whose party is an ally of the ruling coalition, issued a strongly worded statement condemning the episode. “The official is K K Singh, an additional district magistrate with a reputation of high-handedness. During the Covid epidemic, he had commanded citizens to produce videos of themselves beating utensils failing which their applications will not be considered,” Tiwari alleged.

Former Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad slammed the ruling Mahagathbanthan government and asked authorities to take strict action against the ADM.

Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said, the lathi charge was done to control students during a protest march. However, he condemned the incident of thrashing and said, “such behaviour by any anybody is not acceptable, An enquiry committee has been formed to look into the barbaric incident. Strict action will be taken against the him (ADM) if found guilty”. The opposition has questioned Yadav’s saying “if found guilty” as the visuals are enough to explain.

Meanwhile, Patna District Magistrate said the administration has set up a two-member inquiry committee to look into the allegations and examine the video footage. The committee will submit its report in two days and action may be taken accordingly, he said.
