“PM Modi is scared of my next speech exposing Adani links”, says Rahul Gandhi

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is scared of my next speech which would have been suicidal for them as I would have exposed the Adani-Modi relationship… I shall expose this nexus anyway…”, were the words of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who held a Press conference short while ago. Entire media was waiting for a Press briefing since Friday (yesterday), when the news of termination of MP ship came into light.

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two years in prison in a 2019 criminal defamation case over his remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s surname by a court in Gujarat’s Surat. Let’s first understand the entire incident. RaGa who is the MP from Wayanad in Karnataka made the remarks while addressing a rally in the state ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The allegation that had created furore among the Saffron supporters was targeting PM Modi over his last name which he shares with fugitive businessmen Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi. BJP MLA and former Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi had filed the case for saying “How come all thieves have the common surname Modi?” However, the court granted RaGa bail and his sentence was suspended for 30 days to let him appeal the decision.

Before talking about the Press briefing and what RaGa said, let’s have a quick recap of the sequence of events since Friday:

  1. Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as Lok Sabha MP in the Parliament.
  2. The Lok Sabha Secretariat in a notification informed that the disqualification was effective from March 23, the day of his conviction.
  3. Lok Sabha Secretariat further informed the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat falls vacant.
  4. Rahul Gandhi would have to vacate the official bungalow within a stipulated time period.

On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi held a Press meet and faced the media that was bustling with question. RaGa replied all the questions with calm and ease. Some of the excerpts from the Press meet:

  1. RaGa alleged Prime Minister Narendra Modi of allegedly backing Adani. “For this government, country is Adani and Adani is country,” said Rahul said this entire episode was to silence the voice of Congress. RaGa demanded a reply from Pm Modi, “Who’s Rs 20,000 crore went to Adani’s shell companies?”
  2. Replying to Wayand, Rahul said, “I have decided to write a letter to the people of my constituency and explain why I am not able to serve them as a MP after this but will also tell them that my crusade will be on against exposing the corrupt in the system”.
  3. RaGa said he is not bothered over the disqualification as to reach out to people with truth he doesn’t require to a MP, he shall reach out to people in his own way.
  4. When asked on Other Backward Class (OBC) issue during his Bharat Jodo Yatra, he claimed that allegations were totally false and he never insulted OBC.
  5. “My job is to defend the democratic nature of the country which means defending the institutions of the country, defending the voice of the poor people of the country and telling people the truth about people like Adani who are exploiting the relationship they have with the PM”, said Rahul.
  6. RaGa also accused the media of not focusing the issues of opposition as they used to do in the past.

Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on some of the reporters who asked question with a BJP angle. “Why don’t you put the party badge on your shirt. I shall reply to you but please don’t pretend to be a Pressman. Did the BJP tell you to do so”. Reacting to the questions of a popular television journalist, RaGa said, “Allow me to speak unless you decide to reply on my behalf, I know you do this too”.

When asked on the support of Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance), Rahul Gandhi thanked the opposition parties and said togather they would oust the BJP. However, RaGa and Congress should now be more careful in choosing friends especially before going with alliances like Trinamool.

Today’s Press conference will definitely have a strong reaction from the BJP which I am sure is gearing up to give a Press briefing any moment. Opposition will have to do a good homework as Rahul’s conviction “I shall expose the Adani-Modi relationship in coming days and will prove what ever I said was not concocted but on facts”.  “I will keep asking questions on Adani issue, I won’t stop as it’s my conviction towards my countrymen”, said Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress plans to hold nationwide agitations demanding a reply on Adani issue from PM Modi. Security has been beefed up across the country especially at strategic locations.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held the ‘6th pariksha pe charcha’ at the Talkatora Gardens in Delhi. On this occasion, the Prime Minister interacted with over 38 lakh students who had registered and joing both physically and on line across the country and abroad. The winners of PPC 2023 contest got an opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister.

The event was broadcasted live across social media platforms – Twitter, Facebook, YouTube by Education Ministry, the Prime Minister’s office and others. Apart from these, the event was also telecasted on the official website of Education Ministry – education.gov.in

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made various suggestions during the interactive event which saw the participation of around 80 winners of Kala Utsav competition and 102 students and teachers from across the country will also attend the event.

During the programme, the Prime Minister spoke on various topics –

1) Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the students not to become a victim of digital or technical era. He said like a weekly off in every sphere, there should be a digital fasting that will enable children to think positive on that day totally away from digital booming. The Prime Minister also stressed on the need to read and keeping abreast with outside books and developments. He said, “There is nothing wrong in being technically sound or staying with digital booming but at the same time don’t allow the digital booming or gadgets to take upon you. I request you all to allow your natural self and intellect to be the first in deciding things”.

2) PM Modi said, “Observe one day in a week when you shall be totally away from digital or technical booming as gadget’s have become an alternative, don’t let this happen. Let gadgets become your friend and work as a support but not drive you. I therefore would request you all to observe a ‘digital fasting’ in a week.”

3) While talking to parents, PM Modi requested them to always support the children as they have so much to give but if they are not allowed to speak up their minds then they would not be able to delve.

4) While talking to the teachers, PM Modi requested them not to stop them from asking questions. He said no matter what the question is, they should be replied and if the teachers don’t have the sufficient knowledge over the subject then they should seek some time and get back to the children. “You should always encourage their inquisitiveness. How would they learn if they don’t ask questions?”

5) PM Modi also asked the children to learn another language apart from the mother tongue. It would not only help to interact better but also open bigger horizon and connect them to larger audience.

Prime Minister touched many other issues that would be helpful for children appearing for the Boards. Children were excited to interact with the Prime Minister as the interaction has boosted their spirits and enthusiasm.

74th Republic Day marks many firsts including Indian guns

India celebrates 74th Republic Day. As per ritual President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh alongwith other council of ministers payed their tributes to martyrs at the National War Memorial at India Gate.

The parade rolled down the Rajpath renamed as Kartavya Path. Apart from this there were a few firsts in this year’s Republic Day.

1) First Republic Day parade for President Draupadi Murmu who took over a few month back.

2) For the first time 21 gun salute were given by guns made in India under the Make In India project. Earlier, the guns used were made in Britain and outside.

3) The women camel contingent of Border Security Force (BSF) – ‘Mahila Prahari’, walked past the Rajpath or Kartavya Path.

4) This year Egyptian President was the chief guest on the Republic Day. The Egyptian Army participated in the Republic Day parade. This was for the first time a foreign army contingent walked past the Rajpath or Kartavya Path.

A total of 23 tableaux – 17 from states and Union territories and six from various ministries and departments – depicting India’s vibrant cultural heritage, and economic and social progress were part of the parade on the Kartavya Path.

Like always, this year too the tablues would be parked at the Red Fort till January 31, 2023. However, this year there is some changes in this ritual. Tourism has been merged and a festival has been organised. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory as it said being a tourism event, many politicians – MPs, ministers may visit the venue. This means traffic will be hampered and commuters may face traffic snarls.

The traffic advisory: Commuters have been asked to avoid the roads in and around Red Fort. Daryaganj or Netaji Subhash Road, Lothian Road (GPO and Kashmere Gate side), Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Road, Hanuman Mandir, Yamuna Bazar.

However, if you are to catch trains at the Old Delhi Station or busses at Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) then plan accordingly as the roads in and around these places may be largely affected by traffic snarls. To avoid these jams, set out early or else you may miss the train.

PM Modi unveils model of National Memorial dedicated to Netaji Bose, read more

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 23, 2023 (Monday) today, paid his tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, on 126th birth anniversary. PM Modi tweeted…

“Today, on Parakram Diwas, I pay homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and recall his unparalleled contribution to India’s history,” PM Modi tweeted.

On this occasion, Prime Minister virtually inaugurated a model of a proposed memorial dedicated to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

It may not be out of context to recall that PM Modi had renamed the Ross Island as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island on December 30, 2018.

PM Modi shows immense endurance by attending programmes in Bengal inspite of his mother’s death

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set an example of extreme  ‘kartavya’ (responsibility). He lost his mother, Heeraba on Friday early morning. She had been ailing for sometime and was admitted in  UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre. Death came around 3:30 am. Heeraba or Heeraben turned 100 recently. Though, Prime Minister could not be in Kolkata physically to attend the programmes, but he did attend the programmes via video conferencing.

PM Modi was scheduled to visit West Bengal to launch a slew of developmental projects –  flagging off the Vande Bharat train, attend Namami Gange programme apart from attending a few party related programmes. Prime Minister had to cancel his visit owing to the unprecedented development and rush to Gujarat for the last rites.

PM Modi reached Gujarat and attended the last rites at Hindu Crematorium, Gandhi Nagar in Gujarat alongwith his family members. Immediately, after the ‘mukhagni’ (last rites ritual), he attended the scheduled programmes in Kolkata via video conferencing. He just once said, “Due to personal reason, I could not visit West Bengal…I apologize for not being able to keep my word…”. He did not for once did any rhetoric or squeezed emotions. He launched the Vande Bharat train that will ply between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri (NJP). Also, the metro rail connectivity between Howrah and Joka. The Prime Minister also attended a programme on Namami Gange.

Well, it’s not easy to be nerve strong especially when someone loses their parents with whom they share a close bonding. During post Godhra riots, then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee told him, “first go and follow the raj dharam”. Today, Narendra Modi who is first a son, followed his responcibility that he owes towards the country as a Prime Minister. It’s not so easy to be this nerve strong as one needs immense endurance and penance… It’s not so easy … Commendable indeed!

This is an old story I did in 2019 when PM Modi took oath as Prime Minister of India. The photograph showing Heeraba watching her son taking oath went viral on social media platforms.

Indeed, a proud moment for any mother and rare moment for any mother also as all sons doesn’t become prime minister of a country. The frame in itself speak volumes which have emotions, sentiments and endless happiness.

Gujarat Polls 2022: Poor turnout, across the state, voting peaceful

Polling is taking place for the first phase of Gujarat Assembly elections in 89 out of the total 182 seats across 19 districts of Saurashtra-Kutch region and southern parts of the state to decide the fate of 788 candidates.

People in large number are casting their votes. However, there are many who may be opting for the None Of The Others (NOTA) but still its significant as they are coming out of their houses and casting their mandate. Its extremely positive for ant democracy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged the voters in Gujarat, especially those exercising their franchise for the first time, to poll in record numbers.

He tweeted the appeal as the first first phase of the assembly elections was set to start in his home state. “Today is the first phase of the Gujarat elections. I call upon all those voting today, particularly first time voters to exercise their franchise in record numbers,” Modi said.

The voting is being held across 14,382 polling stations, of which 3,311 are in the urban and 11,071 in rural areas, the office of the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said.

Egypt has traditionally been one of India’s most important trading partners in the African continent.

Prime Minister Modi says, important to find the reason of Morbi bridge collapse

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said a “detailed and extensive” inquiry to identify all aspects relating to the Morbi bridge collapse tragedy is the need of the hour, as he chaired a high-level meeting here to review the situation.

He asserted that key learnings from the inquiry must be implemented at the earliest, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement.

However, there were controversies churned by the opposition over Prime Minister’s visit to the hospital where patients are undergoing treatment. It was alleged that the hospital authorities had selected and briefed about speaking with him. It was not just this but they were shifted to new beds with new sheets in a freshly painted ward. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is yet to respond to these allegations.

PM Modi said, the authorities must stay in touch with the affected families and ensure that they receive all possible help in this tragic hour, he said after he was briefed on the rescue operation and the assistance provided to the affected families.
