Self-proclaimed WPD Chief Amritpal Singh on the run; RAF stages flag march

Amritpal Singh On The Run / Massive Crackdown /
Security Beefed Up / RAF Stages Flag march / High Alert In Punjab

Massive hunt is on to nab Amritpal Singh, the Khalistan sympathizer and radical Sikh preacher who had been trying to spread the message of terrorist Bhindranwale among the youths of Punjab and infuse Sikh fundamentalism. On Saturday, the Punjab state government had launched a major crackdown against Singh. Police have arrested 78 members of Waris Punjab De (WPD), the radical outfit launched by Amritpa Singh. Several criminal cases have been slapped against Singh. The police suspects Amritpal Singh has been maintaining close links with Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and terrorist groups based in foreign countries.

Amritpal Singh, managed to escape police’s dragnet on a motorcycle when the special team of the state police, comprising personnel from seven districts, had followed the Khalistani leader’s convoy on its way to the Shahkot tehsil in Jalandhar. Following this incident, security has been beefed up across the state. Singh has been declared a fugitive. Internet connection and SMS services have been suspended after his aides shared some videos on social media claiming that policemen were chasing them, and urged his supporters to gather at Shahkot. The police said it has launched a “massive state-wide cordon and search operations (CASO)” in the state against elements of the ‘Waris Punjab De’.

The Punjab police have already arrested six to seven gunmen of Amritpal Singh. It has also nabbed 78 members of the radical outfit. Apart from this, the police conducted massive raids across the state and have seized one .315 bore rifle, seven 12 bore rifles, one revolver, and 373 live cartridges of different caliber. Daljeet Singh Kalsi, a close aide of Amritpal Singh who handles his finance, has also been arrested from Gurgaon in Haryana. Amritpal Singh has been booked under Arm’s Act.

It’s not clear what charges have been framed against WPD chief Amritpal Singh or in which case he is wanted. However, its is not ruled out that the massive crackdown may be in connection with incident that took place in the Ajnala Police Station on the outskirts of the Amritsar city. Amritpal alongwith his supporters had flaunted nacked swords and guns, broke through barricades. Singh and his gang had clashed with the police. six policemen including a Superintendent of Police rank officer had suffered injuries. The incident had attracted severe criticism for the Mann led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the state being accused of kowtowing to extremists.

Four of Amritpal Singh’s aides have been flown from Punjab to Dibrugarh in Assam, and kept in the Central Jail. The Punjab police is expected to hold a Press conference and divulge details.

However, the aides of Amritpal Singh, are reluctant to accept that their leader had been on the run and maintain that he is in the custody of the police and the police has been spreading a “deliberate” wrong message to mislead the Sikhs. One of the aide said, their leader has nothing to hide or run from as he had been saying and doing everything in the interest of the Sikh religion.

Rise of Amritpal Singh at a glance:

Amritpal Singh is the self-styled chief of the separatist Khalistani pressure group – ‘Waris Punjab De’

The radical leader hails from Jallupur village in Punjab’s Amritsar.

Till February 2022, he lived a normal life who was greatly influenced by the Western lifestyle and did not even wear a turban.

Transformation came in his life after returning from Dubai when he was appointed the head of WPD, founded by actor and activist Deep Sidhu after he was denied a stage by the protesting farmers’ unions. Sidhu had died in a road accident in February last year.

Things changed for Amritpal Singh, who decided to take the void left by Sidhu’s death and declared himself the new chief of Waris De Punjab. His family initially objected to Amritpal Singh’s takeover of the organisation.

Since then Amritpal Singh has directly challenging the administration flouting all the protocols. The man who calls himself a Khalistani sympathizer and a staunch supporter of terrorist Bhindranwale had been openly promoting his separatist agenda.

However, the prima facie reports reveal that Amritpal Singh has already fled outside India, in all probability, Amritpal Singh and three others including his uncle have fled to Nepalmand from there may be to some other country.

Man-made or natural menace? Delhi NCR gasping, AQI dips drastically. ‘Parali’ politics continues… Read more

With the advent of winters in the northern India, people suffer from burning of eyes, running nose, nausea, headache, breathlessness, giddiness. This has become a cult atmospheric trend past few years, as Delhi never had such a scary winter earlier. If you thought it’s due to cold then you are wrong as it’s because of pollution that Delhi and entire north belt go through due to burning of ‘parali’ or stubble burning. Predominant reason behind spreading of pollution – turning Delhi into a gas chamber. Parali for those outside north India may be French as they have never heard or experienced. I shall discuss in details.

Those in Delhi or North India are aware of this menace. Delhi and places those are dry have a low pressure building area. When polluted air flies from Punjab, and adjoining areas towards Delhi it falls in the pit or bowl like structure and the air gets stuck transforming the city into a gas chamber. People find it hard to hard to breathe as the days increases. On average parali or stubble burning starts from first week of October.

It’s important to know know why parali is burnt only in winters?

Parali is the local term for burning stubble. Its the method where the farmer removes paddy crop residues from the field to sow wheat from the last week of September to November. Its done by putting entire farmland on fire. This is done to numerous farmlands. In short, its the process of setting on fire the straw stubble, left after the harvesting of grains, like paddy, wheat, etc. This is done to farms across villages.

This year too is no different than previous years. Stubble burning began in October 8. Subsequently, it reached middle of the peak of deterioration of atmosphere. However, in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, various steps have been taken to minimize the ill-effects of parali burning:

1) Primary schools closed down.
2) Government offices are running with 50 per cent staff force.
3) All construction acrtivities have been put on hold.
4) No entry to trucks inside the city.
5) Diesel vehicles restricted to enter city.
6) Over five lakh vehicles stopped.
7) Rupees 20,000 imposed as chalan who violates.
8) Diesel run generators are stopped.

Apart from these, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) is also mulling over the idea to implement the annual Odd and Even format.

Well, talking of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP Convener, Arvind Kejriwal, there is a huge discrepancy between saying and doing. In an interview to a television channel few years back, Delhi Chief Minister mentioned of a chemical obtained from an experimentation conducted with the help of Pusa Institute, Delhi. He said if this chemical is spread over the parali then it would transform the stubble into fertilizer. He categorically questioned by taking the names of Punjab, and Haryana among other states, and asked why they don’t take the advantage of the chemical. Kejriwal had termed it as a “win win situation”. Little did he know rthen that this would come asa a boomerang. AAP would come to power in Punjab. Offlate, we did not hear even a word on parali from Kejriwal, lweast talk of the chemical he once mentioned.

People residing in Delhi NCR have no other option but to live with this menace and gasp for breathing fresh air, there is remote chances for the people to get some though, as the entire Delhi NCR has been transformed into a gas chamber.

Life and sacrifice of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, an inspiration

India is paying tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his 115th birth anniversary. Born on September 28, 1907, Bhagat Singh is regarded as an inspiration. The name of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Lala Har Dayal, Khudi Ram Bose, Matangini Hazra, Pritilata Waddedar, Shanti Shuniti, Ashfaqullah Khan, Ram Prasad Bismil, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and many more are enough to churn not just our emotions but the blood flowing in our veins.

Like all freedom fighters, Bhagat Singh too was a normal young man in Punjab who since childhood, used to get turned-on by the emotions of motherland and hated the way the British behalved with Indians. He was a rebellion within and felt the anger brewing inside him.

His life took a new turn when the British police had brutally charged lathi on Lala Lajpat Rai, following which the veteran freedom fighter had succumbed to his injuries. Bhagat Singh along with Rajguru, Sukhdev decided to take revenge and plotted to kill the police p officer responsible but by mistake he had killed JP Saunders. He fled Lahore. The all three were sentenced to death in the Lahore conspiracy case and ordered to be hanged on 24 March 1931. The schedule was moved forward by 11 hours and the three were hanged on 23 March 1931 at 7:30 pm.

Bhagat Singh refused to apologise, or even file an appeal. Bhagat Singh was not a devotee of non-violence. In his last letter, Bhagat Singh wrote, “I have been arrested while waging a war. For me there can be no gallows. Put me into the mouth of a cannon and blow me off.” Needless to mention such great men are the pride of India and its because of these people, India gained freedom. Bhagat Singh had refused to accept the path of non-violence as he felt only violence could make India free.

Freedom struggle of India has seen numerous freedom fighters who did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives, they did not think of their career, family or future. This why we bow our heads in respect . Indeed they deserve the salutations, not just on special days but on all days. These people deserve much more than what they get but such emotions should come from within and people should be grateful to them for their sacrifices.
